The Bachelor of Science in Criminology program of the School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology (SECAP) successfully conducted the Grand Reception Rites as part of the activities of Criminology Students Service Society (CSSS) Day.
The event, held on October 10, 2024, was headed by the SECAP Dean, Dr. Herbert S. Corpuz, the BS Criminology Department Head, Jennifer C. Bancud, MSCrim, the CSSS Adviser, Shaine Anne V. Rabago, RCrim, and the Program Instructors, including Jervees A. Herrera, MNSA, Atty. Orlyne T. Trinidad, MSN, Joseph F. Tamacay, DPA, Loreto C. Cabasag Jr., RCrim, and Ralph Aldrei N. Bosi, RCrim.
The symbolic event has become a tradition, serving as a trail to becoming an actual Criminologist. Each task was an emblem of battles in real-life situations, leaving them wisdom and learning, particularly resilience, perseverance, and teamwork. The core objective of the Reception Rites is fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity among the students, which reflects their track and the fact that their bond will grow stronger through all circumstances.
One of the highlights of the activities was the representational partaking of the spiciness of chili, the bitterness of coffee, and the sweetness of sugar. The trials they faced were highly anticipated as they held not only to test their resilience but also to assess their boundaries and limitations as future law enforcers and security foundations of the nation.
The university congratulates the SECAP department, particularly the BS Criminology program and the CSSS organization, for the successful execution of the event. Special acknowledgment is also given to the faculty members and staff, whose dedication as the primary organizers made the program possible.
The bounty achievements of the activity are in line with one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong institutions, which promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels. Such programs contribute to shaping well-rounded professionals who embody these principles, ultimately reinforcing the stability and security of communities.
