USL solidifies partnership with IMA

Expanding the international mobility of Louisian students, the University of Saint Louis inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), Inc. on October 3, 2024, at the Sacred Heart Boardroom.


This agreement formalizes the existing collaboration between the two firms, establishing a joint commitment to bolster career opportunities for accounting and finance professionals and implement initiatives that benefit the academic community through joint seminars, conferences, shared research projects, and publications on IMA.


During the event, USL’s Vice President for Academics, Dr. Luisa B. Aquino, emphasized the significant role of IMA in preparing students to become industry-ready. This was supported by the University President, Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, PhD, as he expressed his gratitude to IMA, underscoring the importance of university linkages dedicated to Louisian students to compete in the global market.


In turn, Ms. Tricia Jao, IMA’s Partnership Relations Manager, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to working closely with the university for professional capacity building.


Notably, IMA will provide five U.S. CMA scholarships annually to the university’s top accounting and/or finance program students.


Following the MoU signing, IMA officials administered an orientation to two hundred (200) senior students taking accountancy, management accounting, and business administration at the Bishop Constant Jurgens Campus (BCJC).


The IMA delegation was led by Ms. Tricia Jao, Ms. Arriane Steffi Bacon, IMA Philippines Chapter President, and Ms. Jhoanna Marie Abad, Member Activation and Events Manager.


The event was also graced by USL officials: Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, PhD; Dr. Luisa B. Aquino; Dr. Marie Rose P. Mora, Vice President for Administration; Dr. Celso L. Tuddao, Vice President for Finance; Dr. Rizza V. Ramos, Dean of the School of Accountancy, Business, and Hospitality; Dr. Anjanette F. Batulan, Director for GloCal Partnerships and Engagement (GPE); Mr. Kyle S. Espiritu, Assistant Director for GPE; Mr. Christopher B. Romero, Assistant Treasurer; and Ms. Mary Joyce Z. Aggabao, Accountancy Department Head.


The MoU signing highlights the potential of international partnerships to create more opportunities to elevate Louisian quality education.
