USL honors service awardees, retirees in 8th GSLE

The University of Saint Louis (USL) honored the immeasurable dedication and outstanding service of its employees and retirees to the USL community at the 8th Gawad San Luis for Employees (GSLE) on August 30, 2024, at the James Ter Meer Gymnasium.

The ceremony included recognition of employees who have devoted 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service to the university, commending their significant and enduring contributions in the school community.

Honorees for their years of service include:

  • 10 years: Ajie C. Dagohoy Jr., Marites B. Malana, Renz Marion C. Gavino, Ertie C. Abana, Ceferino V. Llamelo, Minerva A. Sto. Tomas, Sander T. Sedano, Abrito B. Torida Jr.
  • 15 years: Jay M. Ventura, Rovelle Concepcion S. Siazon, Karen Joy A. Catacutan, Riza C. Calimag
  • 20 years: Joan C. Adducul, Melodie P. Espinosa, Venus I. Guyos, Amancio A. Novo Jr., Dindo V. Asuncion
  • 25 years: Ferdizeus S. Samonte, Domingo C. Lumauan, Wilson J. Temporal, Nemia D. Laureta, Mary Ann P. Bunagan, Marie Rose P. Mora, Emily T. Mabborang
  • 30 years: Roger G. Lacambra
  • 35 years: Pyrene T. Quilang


With 25 years of service, Mr. Ferdizeus S. Samonte, Utility Driver, extended his gratitude on behalf of his fellow awardees.


“Ako at ang mga kasama kong nagawaran ngayong araw na ito ay taos-pusong nagpapasalamat sa Diyos na kami ay nabigyan ng parangal sa ilang taon naming paninilbihan sa Unibersidad ng San Luis. Makakaasa po ang administrasyon na gagawin naming lahat ng aming makakaya, upang sa ganoon, mas lalong umunlad ang ating unibersidad at mapabuti ang serbisyo natin sa mga estudyante,” assured Mr. Samonte.



Furthermore, the Louisian community gave a heartfelt tribute to the three retirees of the university, namely Dr. Pyrene T. Quilang, Former Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Professional Development; Dr. Emmanuel James P. Pattaguan, Former Vice President for Academics; and Dr. Rina M. Reyes, Former Vice President for Administration. This exemplified the deep appreciation and acknowledgment of their unrelenting commitment for more than 25 years of service in the university in various capacities.

“Being a part of this community has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated achievements, and fostered a vibrant academic environment where innovation and intellectual curiosity thrive,” shared Dr. Quilang in her message.

The ceremony celebrated the exceptional achievements and unwavering dedication of the awardees, who have significantly contributed to the growth and success of the university. Their commitment and service are deeply valued, and their accomplishments serve as a source of inspiration for the entire USL community.
