In a time-honored tradition of faith and unity, the University of Saint Louis (USL) recently held its annual Mass of the Holy Spirit. This significant religious event, deeply embedded in the Louisian identity, marks the beginning of a new academic year and serves as a spiritual anchor for the students, teachers, staff, and administrators who continuously strive to embody the values of the institution.

The two-day masses were presided over by Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, MATh-PM, Vice President for Mission and Identity/ University Chaplain on September 3 and 4, 2024, across two venues—the Good Shepherd Chapel and the BCJC Audio Visual Room.

In his homily, Fr. Barroga highlighted the importance of placing faith at the center of one’s personal and academic journey. “It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we can conquer all the challenges that will come along the way. Remember, if the Lord is not present in your life, you cannot do anything,” Fr. Barroga shared. His words resonated deeply with the Louisian community, reaffirming the integral role that faith plays in academic excellence and character development.

As the university continues its mission to form competent and compassionate individuals, the Mass of the Holy Spirit will remain a cornerstone of its spiritual life.
