Guided by the theme “Upholding Truth and Innovation: Empowering Louisian Journalists in the Digital Age,” the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao, through the Advancement Office, conducted a Seminar on Journalism and Team-Building on April 23, 2026, at the N-Hall, gathering student journalists from various campus publications.

The morning session commenced with an inspirational message from University President, Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, PhD, who underscored the vital role of truth and accuracy in journalism. He emphasized that student journalists carry the responsibility of ensuring that every published content reflects integrity, fairness, and accountability, especially in today’s fast-paced digital environment.

Highlighting the seminar were the insightful talks from invited speakers who shared their expertise on timely and relevant topics. Dr. Chelito A. Malamug, a professor from Cagayan State University, delivered a discussion on Responsible Journalism, stressing the ethical obligations of writers in verifying information and combating misinformation. Meanwhile, Sir Christian L. Dulin, LPT, a college instructor from the School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology, explored the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Journalism, presenting both its advantages and the ethical considerations that come with its integration in news writing.

Both sessions encouraged active participation from student journalists, fostering meaningful discussions and reflections on their roles as emerging media practitioners.

In the afternoon, a team-building activity was conducted to strengthen camaraderie among participants coming from different student publications across the university. Through a series of engaging physical activities, the student journalists were able to build connections, promote teamwork, and enhance collaboration—reinforcing the spirit of unity within the Louisian media community.

The whole-day event not only enriched the participants’ knowledge and skills in journalism but also cultivated a deeper sense of responsibility, cooperation, and innovation among Louisian student writers.

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) successfully conducted the Women Leadership Seminar on Empowerment and Education on April 8 and 20, 2026, at the Bulwagang Teodulfo Domingo. The two-session program gathered Louisian women leaders and managers in a meaningful initiative that underscored the vital role of women in shaping inclusive and transformative leadership within the academic community.

Facilitated by the Vice President for Academics, Dr. Luisa B. Aquino, the seminar provided a dynamic platform for reflection, learning, and dialogue. The sessions were designed to strengthen leadership capacities while fostering a deeper appreciation of the unique contributions of women in institutional development.

The sessions centered on self-awareness and leadership identity, guiding participants in recognizing their strengths, values, and leadership styles. Through reflective activities and guided discussions, attendees were encouraged to embrace authenticity and confidence in navigating their roles as leaders. Dr. Aquino emphasized that empowered leadership begins with a clear sense of purpose and the courage to lead with integrity and compassion.

Moreover, the sessions also built on these foundations by focusing on strategic leadership and resilience in the workplace. Participants engaged in collaborative exercises that highlighted effective communication, decision-making, and adaptability in the face of challenges. The discussions also addressed the importance of fostering supportive work environments that uplift and empower fellow women professionals.

As the seminar concluded, participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage in a program that both affirmed their leadership journeys and challenged them to grow further. The initiative stands as a testament to USLT’s commitment to nurturing empowered, resilient, and visionary women leaders who contribute meaningfully to the academic and wider community.

Through programs such as this, the university continues to uphold its mission of developing leaders grounded in excellence, service, and transformative education.

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) celebrated the 16th Sacerdotal Anniversary of Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., through a Eucharistic celebration held today, April 17, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Chapel.

The mass, presided over by Fr. Maniwang with Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, MATh-PM, served as a solemn expression of thanksgiving for sixteen years of priestly ministry. The celebration centered on the grace of vocation and the enduring call to serve God’s people with fidelity.

In his homily, Fr. Maniwang reflected on Psalm 139:14, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” He spoke of God’s intimate knowledge of every person and the divine care present from the very beginning of life. He shared that this truth has shaped his understanding of his vocation and continues to guide him in his priestly journey. The passage remains a source of strength as he carries out his mission, trusting in God and renewing his commitment to serve.

His friends, members of the Board of Trustees, retirees, students, teaching personnel, and non-teaching personnel attended the Eucharistic celebration. Their presence conveyed prayerful support and gratitude for his years in the priesthood.

The celebration of Fr. Maniwang’s sacerdotal anniversary affirmed the enduring value of priestly service. His sixteen years in the ministry continue to inspire faith, deepen spiritual commitment, and strengthen the sense of mission among the faithful.

Happy 16th Sacerdotal Anniversary, Fr. Maniwang! May God continue to bless your priestly ministry with grace, strength, and wisdom as you faithfully serve His people. May your life remain a source of inspiration, and may your mission be ever guided by His enduring love.

Reaffirming its commitment to producing industry-ready graduates, the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) participated in the General Membership Meeting (GMM) 2026 of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Cagayan Chapter (PCCI Cagayan) held on April 14, 2026, at Santander’s Hall, Hotel Carmelita.

The event, themed “Forging Stronger Partnerships: Business, Government, and Academe United for Cagayan’s Growth,” brought together leaders from the private sector, government agencies, and higher education institutions to align strategies for the province’s economic and human capital development.

One of the key sessions of the meeting featured “Messages of Support” from provincial and regional directors, underscoring the government’s commitment to this tripartite alliance, with notable officials in attendance including Mary Ann C. Dy, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cagayan; Genaro Ronald P. Ibay, Provincial Director of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Cagayan; Rosemary G. Aquino, Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 02; Jayferson D. Mabborang, Provincial Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Cagayan; and Laura B. Diciano, Provincial Director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Cagayan.

The highlight of the assembly was the Simultaneous Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing. USLT, alongside other leading academic institutions in the region, formalized its partnership with PCCI Cagayan and the PCCI Human Resource Development Foundation (PCCI HRDF).

This landmark agreement is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice. Through this collaboration, USLT aims to enhance its Pre-Employment Education and Training (PET) initiatives, ensuring that Louisian students acquire competencies and skills that are directly aligned with the evolving demands of the global labor market.

The event was spearheaded by PCCI Cagayan President Ms. Evelyn L. Velasco, who delivered the State of the Chamber Address, and PCCI Cagayan BOD Mr. Cloyd C. Velasco, who provided the GMM overview. The program was moderated by Mr. Ramon A. Morales, Chairman of the Board.

The gathering also featured inspirational messages from Cagayan Governor Edgar “Manong Egay” Aglipay and PCCI Region 02 Governor Jose Avelino C. Diaz, both of whom underscored the importance of unity in building a “Prosperous Tomorrow” for the province.

Dr. Alberto P. Fenix, Jr., President of PCCI HRDF, served as the Guest of Honor and Inducting Officer. In his keynote address, Dr. Fenix emphasized the vital synergy between government, industry, and the academe as the cornerstone of a sustainable and competitive workforce.

Moreover, representing USLT in the event were Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, PhD, University President; Dr. Luisa B. Aquino, Vice President for Academics; Dr. Rizza V. Ramos, Dean of the School of Accountancy, Business, and Hospitality (SABH); and Dr. Mary Ann C. Bartolome, Department Head of the Business Administration program.

By formalizing this partnership, USLT strengthens its position at the forefront of career-integrated education. The university remains committed to delivering experiential learning opportunities and competency-based training that equip students with skills aligned to industry needs. Through active engagement with key stakeholders, USLT ensures that its programs are integrated into the broader regional development agenda. This collaboration further enables Louisian graduates to benefit from a strong network of government support and industry opportunities, preparing them to thrive in a competitive workforce.

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) held the contract signing for the Basic Education School (BES) faculty for the School Year 2026 to 2027 on March 27, 2026, at the Bulwagang Teodulfo Domingo (New EMC) Building.

The program opened with remarks from Dr. Marie Rose P. Mora, Vice President for Administration. This was followed by a message from Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., University President. In his address, he shared his vision for the upcoming school year and the years ahead. He encouraged the faculty to remain steadfast in forming students with strong values and academic competence. He also emphasized the role of educators in building a community rooted in faith, excellence, and service.

The contracts were then signed, marking each faculty member’s formal commitment to the university.

As the university moves forward, this renewed commitment stands as a strong foundation for the year ahead. May all BES educators continue to serve with purpose and carry the Louisian spirit as they form minds and hearts for the future.
