USL hosts MOOC Camp in Region II, facilitates online course

Tuguegarao City – The sustained partnership between the University of Saint Louis (USL) and the US Embassy, US Department of State, opens another learning opportunity for teachers in the Cagayan Valley Region through a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) designed by Arizona State University, USA, and administered by FHI 360.

Offered under the AE E-Teacher Program of the US Department of State, the online course “Professional Development for Teacher Trainers” has started on October 8, 2018 and will end on November 19, 2018.  

The participating institutions for this year’s MOOC are the: (1) Cagayan State University Carig Campus; (2) Department of Education, Nueva Vizcaya; (3) Gattaran National Trade School, Gattaran, Cagayan; (4) King’s College of the Philippines, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; (5) Namuccayan Integrated School, Santo Niño, Cagayan; (6) Nueva Vizcaya State University, Bambang Campus; (7) Nueva Vizcaya State University, Bayombong Campus; (8) Our Lady of Fatima School of Villaverde, Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya; (9) Saint Louis School, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya; (10) Saint Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; (11) Sangbay Integrated School, Nagtipunan, Quirino; (12) Schools Division Office, Nueva Vizcaya; (13) University of La Salette, Inc., Santiago City; and (14) University of Saint Louis, Tuguegarao City.

Teacher-participants of the course are expected to learn methods for creating, presenting, and evaluating effective teacher training workshops; gain tools and techniques in promoting teacher professional development; and develop their skills in delivering engaging and relevant teacher training programs.


USL’s School of Education, Arts, Sciences and Health spearheads the facilitation of the MOOC Camp in Region II, simultaneous with the facilitation of the camp around the world.


“Professional Development for Teacher Trainers” is the second MOOC the University of Saint Louis is facilitating after “Leading Ambitious Teaching and Learning” which was offered last year through the University of Michigan, USA.
