USL’s Nursing program accredited, HS program re-accredited
The Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) recently awarded accreditation and re-accreditation to the University’s Nursing and High School programs, respectively, affirming that the programs meet or exceed established criteria.
A team of PAASCU accreditors held a formal survey visit of the University’s Nursing program on Feb. 4-5, 2013 to evaluate the program specifically along four areas: community involvement, faculty, curriculum and instruction, and laboratories.
The Accredited Status is valid until year 2016.
The Nursing program underwent a PAASCU preliminary survey in January 2011.
Meanwhile, the High School program retains its Level II Re-accredited Status (valid until 2018), after the PAASCU visit last Feb. 26-27, 2013 where the following were looked into: philosophy and objectives; faculty; curriculum and instruction; library and audio visual center; laboratories; physical plant; student services; administration; and school and community.
The High School department is now eligible to apply for Level III accreditation, the highest level of accreditation for high school programs.
Accreditation is a continuous process of assessing a program’s strengths and weaknesses, aimed at sustaining the quality of the program. The University of Saint Louis shall continue to subject its curricular programs for accreditation.
In September, the six (6) Level IV PAASCU-accredited programs of the University (Accountancy, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Elementary Teacher Education, Secondary Teacher Education, and Liberal Arts) and the Electrical Engineering program are due for re-accreditation visits. The Grade School department shall be having its PAASCU formal visit in November.
