USL-HS Drum & Lyre, still undefeated
The University of Saint Louis-High School Drum & Lyre Corps retained its crown as champion and was awarded the Hall of Fame Award in this year’s Pavvurulun Festival, Battle of the Bands last August.
Besting other bands from the participating public and private schools, USL-HS was given the Hall of Fame Award for winning the championship in three consecutive years. In addition, it garnered the following awards: Best in Uniform, Best in Marching, Most Disciplined Band, Best in Color Guards, and Best in Majorette. Also, Mrs. Marrymay B. Pillos was awarded as the Best Conductor during the competition.
According to Mrs. Pillos, the success was worth all the effort and sacrifices they have exerted. She also mentioned that she is very happy to note that the corps has been declared the champion for five years.
USL-HS was given plaques of recognition and a cash prize amounting to Php19,000. The group was trained by Mr. Allan Lunod and was supervised by their moderators, Mrs. Pillos and Mrs. Riza B. Calimag.
Moreover, Cagayan National High School clutched the second place while Saint Paul University landed as third.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the administration, parents and the teachers who were very supportive to all the department’s participation especially during the festival,” expressed Miss Mary Ann Baquiran, the principal.
